Physics 103M: Writing a lab-report 1. Introduction (must be typed) Write - in a paragraph - what is the main objective of this lab.   If there is a hypothesis, then state it. Place this in the same page before the Conclusions. 2. Data  Attach all “Data Sheets” for the experiment These sheets should have the TA's signature Cut off all little rough edges when ripping pages out of your lab manual. 3.   Data Analysis Include all Excel and KaleidaGraph graphs and tables Graphs should include: a)  title, b) axis should include labels and  units, c) x and  y error bars One graph per page, as big as possible * Not allowed: 2 students working in 1 computer outside of lab 4.  Sample calculations One example of each type of calculations performed in the lab-report should be included (if you perform a calculation once, and you have shown your work  somewhere in the lab-report, you don't need to include it in your “Sample calculations” section) Use real data obtained from the lab session Specify where the data is coming from: which part of the experiment You can use (. ..) if there are too many values to write 5. Conclusions (must be typed) I should be able to understand your conclusions without even looking at your lab report. Compare theory versus the experimental data Talk about specific conclusions for  each part  of the experiment Error analysis, sources of errors and comment if your data supports them (don’t mention human error, read pages 4-5, 22-23) * Don't talk to anyone about conclusions, just to the TA. ___________________________________________________ More about writing a lab-report: Pages 21-24 For sample lab-report see: Pages 111-118 * Each student should write his own lab-report *Write the name of your lab partner in your lab-report
