ACT 1: Macbeth, the hero of the drama, has just defeated the Thane of Cawdor who was a traitor to King Duncan and aided Macdonwald. Killing the Thane allows for Duncan to win the war and for Macbeth to gain his title. Three witches, the Weird sisters, tell him and his friend, Banquo, of the news and tell them both of their different futures. Macbeth will become a king while Banquo’s sons will be kings and he will never amount to anything more than what he is now. Macbeth’s wife hears of the news and knows that the next step to becoming king is to kill Duncan. The problem, however, is that Macbeth is a honest, virtuous man who earns everything he has fairly. She convinces him that he must kill him when Duncan comes to visit their home. Macbeth has his doubts which carry over to Act Two. ACT 2: Macbeth has killed Duncan and begins to worry about the consequences and thinks everyone knows what he has done. Thinking the attendants know of his deeds he kills them in order to get rid of the witnesses. Macbeth confesses to killing those men and claims that they
