Charles Sims Theatre Foundations Assignment 6 In The play American Tropical, by Richard Ford, The main character, Evelyn, has killed  one of her friends from back home in Michigan. According to ball the action what would  be that she has killed one of her best friends, while the action why was that she killed out  of passion.  This trait to her character is not a normal one because she says over and over in the play  that she is not really a killer, and even Sid agrees a couple times. So although she  murdered her best friend, penny, her character is not a natural killer, it took a lot out of  her, and she regrets it very much now. Evelyn being a very kind and considerate girl,  should be cast not in contrast of that fact.   My concept as a director for Evelyn is to have a beautiful blonde white girl, who has  been transformed into trailer trash, but has a much better dialect than most trailer trash.
