Capital Punishment According the most recent Bureau of Justice statistics on capital punishment in 2005 sixty inmates were executed, one more than in the 2004. Of these sixty forty-one were white, nineteen were black and one of them was a woman. It seems as though many people are being given the death penalty when being convicted of a murder or rape. The death penalty is not an effective form of punishment. They should get rid of the death penalty because it is racial and bias, not cost effective and not an adequate deterrent. When the death penalty is administered it seems to give the guilty party an easy way out, a solution to their problems. I think the proper punishment is for them to suffer. So people argue that sending them to the death penalty will decrease the numbers of murders and other crimes that happen which is false.
