Timothy Su SID#: 19558428 04/29/08 Integrative Medicine Final Paper I truly enjoyed the Integrative Medicine decal this past semester. Though many of the classes I have chosen in the past have been somewhat unfulfilling, Integrative Medicine not only satisfied my expectations, but also provided me with an incredible amount of insight that I would not have gained elsewhere. What had sparked my interest in this class was my Drugs and the Brain lecture last semester, a class which largely focused on psychoactive drugs. Within the framework of the class, we discussed the shamanic, ritualistic of certain herbs and plants and how they were used medicinally, before the era of manufactured pills and sterilized hospitals. So therefore, speakers that generally included subject matters of natural remedies to modern diseases interested me to a large extent. Perhaps the speaker I enjoyed the most out of these was the Osteopathic doctor. I really liked the way in which he stressed the importance of the union between the body, mind, and spirit, and how they all intertwine and affect each other. I used to
