Answers to all of these questions should be in your notes and the book. Please use them. Chapter 1 What are the 6 classes of nutrients? Which nutrients provide energy? Which non-nutrient also provides energy? How is food energy measured? Be familiar with the sample calculations on page 9. What does “energy density” mean? Know the basic terminology used in nutrition research. Do epidemiological studies usually involve relatively large or small sample sizes? What are the DRIs? How is an RDA developed? What does AMDR stand for? What ranges of intakes are recommended for Carbohydrates, protein and fat? What are the components of a complete nutrition assessment?
