National Defense Budget
The three sub-categories of the national defense budget are Base Budget, War Funding and
Supplementals. The three sub-categories relate to the acquisition process by providing areas in
which funds will be allocated for various needed acquisitions. The Base Budget is the primary
part of the defense budget. The next sub-category is War Funding. War Funding is funds
allocated to spend on the war effort. This category would include disaster assistance, funding for
the Global War on Terror, and overseas contingency operations. Lastly, supplements would
consist of other emergency needed funds and unanticipated urgent requirements.
