The Operating System manages the hardware, software and resources of the computer as well as memory and all processes. With the operating system having such an essential role, it is important to know the differences in the available operating systems. By far the most common operating system available is Windows. Windows is an operating system. Window’s operating system comes installed on most PCs especially those purchased through big box retailers. Windows is a graphical interface operating system. Because of its popularity and market dominance, a majority of software created is compatible with the Windows operating system. The popularity of Windows, also leads to a vulnerability because most viruses target computers running the Windows operating system making this OS the least secure.
