Subject’s Name: Harold Pinter Biographical Information: Harold Pinter was born 10 October 1930 Lived the majority of his life in London Married Lady Antonio Fraser, his second wife, in 1980 Author of 29 plays, 26 screenplays, a novel, and many essays and poems Evacuated London in 1940 and 1941 because of WWII – affected themes of his later works Training: Attended Hackney Downs Grammar School from 1944-48 While at Hackney Downs, he appeared in two plays directed by his English teacher and mentor, Joseph Brearley Attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, but did not like it and dropped out in 1949 Attended the Central School of Speech and Drama for six months then dropped out Toured Ireland with Anew McMaster repertory company in 1951-52 Worked for the Donald Wolfit Company, King’s Theatre, and Hammersmith from 1953-54 Acted under the stage name “David Baron” from 1954-59 Wrote his first play titled The Room in 1957 Major Works:
