Collaboration Our main goal: “How do you get people in your organizations to work together across internal boundaries?” Why we need collaboration? 1) A unified face to customers 2) Faster internal decision making, reduced costs through shared resources 3) Development of more innovative products “You increasingly need collaboration between product and service groups 1) Exactly how we divided up the team! Why companies fail to bring collaboration? 1) They focus on the symptoms (“Sales and delivery do not work together as closely as they should”) 2) Rater than on the root cause of failures in collaboration 3) Focus on CONFLICT!! Very important points we SHOULD NOT MISS!!! 1) Effective collaboration does not mean “TEAMING!” Common goals does not help collaboration…it further stigmatizes the idea of conflict in organization. Breakdowns in collaboration almost always result from “fundamental differences among business functions and divisions”
