Apple 2 According to Daft (2007, p. 361), “culture provides members with a sense of organizational identity and generates in them a commitment to beliefs and values that are larger than themselves.” Apple, established in 1976 (Apple, Inc., 2007), is an organization whose corporate culture is primarily based on the vision and ideas of co-founder Steve Jobs. Jobs has engrained Apple’s corporate culture with the belief that each employee’s creative thoughts and ideas are a fundamental necessity essential to the organization’s continued success (Farivar, 2006). In addition, Apple’s goal to pioneer new technologies clearly establishes an organizational culture primarily based on a combination of “innovation, creativity, and risk- taking,” which are all characteristic of the adaptability culture as defined by Daft (2007, p. 368).
