Article Review AssignmentThe main focus of the article is addressing the prevention of bullying in the school environment by using an approach called School-wide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (SWPBIS). This approach is a combination of several theories that include; behaviorism, social learning, and prevention science to name a few. SWPBIS is aimed at applying all of these theories in practice to change the overall school climate and decrease behavior problems that lead to bullying and aggressiveness. The theoretical perspectives mentioned in the article are operant conditioning, managing the environment and using gathered information to predict behavior. Also, mentioned in the article is the difference between authoritarian and authoritative practices in the school setting. Authoritarian focuses attention on obedience and control through disciplinary actions and it does not offer any resources to change the behavior. Authoritative is structured and offers assistance by implementing specific rules that are compulsory for positive behaviors from the students. Student-teacher relationships play an important role in this authoritative practice, as it offers support and promotes positive behavior.
