Study Design
In the previous literature review, the research question that I proposed is does a larger
airport in the United States rank higher in service quality than a medium airport? My null
hypothesis is that there will be no difference between measuring large or medium airports for
quality of service. My alternate hypothesis is that larger airports will have the highest quality of
service due to their spacious layouts and overwhelming number of customers. For this research
question I would perform a descriptive vs. analytical study. The type of data that I would collect
would be data on common aspects of airports such as cleanliness, facilities, shopping, wait times,
lounges, and other commonalities. I would collect this data through the use of surveys taken
from random people at large and medium airports.
Population and Sample
The population for this study would be the masses that fly every day from airports. My
sample will consist of 100 people each from the following large airports: Denver International,
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International, Los Angeles International, Chicago O’Hare
International, Dallas/Fort Worth International, John F. Kennedy International, San Francisco
International, Phoenix Sky Harbor International, Miami International, and George Bush
Intercontinental. My sample will also consist of 100 people each from the following medium
airports: Dallas Love Field, Lambert-St. Louis International, William P. Hobby, Austin-
Bergstrom International, Nashville International, Oakland International, Louis Armstrong New
Orleans International, Kansas City International, Raleigh-Durham International, and John Wayne
Airport. My sample will be selected from random participants at each location. A survey booth
will be set up for those who would like to give their opinion. Although this is not the fastest
process, I do believe that it is the most random.

Variables and Measures
The dependent variable in this study is whether or not larger airports receive higher
accolades than medium airports when it comes to quality service. The independent variables that
