Running head: HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS IN THE WORKPLACE1HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS IN THE WORKPLACEAccording to Bartunek (2011), existing problems between nurses, physicians and administratorshinder the ability to achieve quality care in healthcare settings. In one health care facility, ofwhich I am familiar with, there exists relationship disparities between the nursing staff and thefacility’s physicians. The physicians feel that the nursing staff are subordinates whose work is tofollow their every command while the nursing staff feel that physicians are too domineering. Therelationship disparities also exist due to difference in perspective between the two groups; nursestend to look at the general well-being of a patient while the doctors focus solely on treatment andcures. This relationship disparity is not good for the facility as it can threaten patient safety andsometimes leads to low morale amongst the nursing staff.
