Adam Gehring 9/24/07 Span228 Composition 1 It’s Never Too Old to Change One’s Personality For the majority of my childhood, I was the kid at the back of the classroom who never spoke. I was shy and quiet when everyone else was very loud. I had very poor social skills, but the friends that I did have were very dear to me. I remember one day in fifth grade some other kid came up to me and asked me if I wanted to hang out with him. I told him I was busy, but in reality I felt uncomfortable hanging out with someone I did not know very well. This describes just one of the many times during my childhood when I was too afraid to make a change in my lifestyle. I did not like to make new friends, and I would not let go of the same views and ideas that I grew up with. However, after I applied and got accepted into the University of Illinois, all of that changed. Almost immediately, my life began moving uphill as I adapted to university life. Going to the University of Illinois helped me make new friends, while changing my personality
