To count the microbial growth,the viable count method was used. A viable cell is able to divide and increase their cellnumbers. The common way to perform the method is by determining the number cells in thesample culture that is capable of colony formation. It is assumed that each of the viable cellforms one colony. Therefore, the method is also called colony count or plate count. The useof serial dilution was done to the chosen sub culture to be diluted and incubated for controlledbacterial growth. The results showed fewer to none growths in the plates.Keywords:viable count, viable cell, serial dilutionINTRODUCTIONThere are many ways count the number of bacterial colony in a sample. One of these methodsthat was used in the experiment is the viable cell count allows one to identify the number ofactively growing/dividing cells in a sample. Also called the plate count method or spreadplate method, this relies on bacteria growing a colony on a nutrient medium.The colonybecomes visible to the naked eye and the number of colonies on a plate can be counted.
