My Best Years My camera has flashed at friends, at the ocean during a sunrise, at a family reunion. It went everywhere. For my 18 th birthday it was time for my old camera to be retired, leaving for college soon a new one was in order. The camera’s box was wrapped in newspaper, the sports section to be specific. Leave it to my brother to buy a nice gift only to wrap it in trash. I tore the paper off to reveal the black Fujifilm box. I opened the flaps and pulled out a block of styrofoam. Opening the styrofoam tomb to reveal a red Fujifilm Fine Pix 10.0 MP digital camera. It shone a bright red, with silver details on the side. It was incredibly smooth, sleek and slim. The camera is now a mere 5 months old. It is still its smooth self, except for one scratch in the lower left hand corner. Spending its idle moments in its matching red case. Over the past 5 months some of its luster has been lost and it is currently covered in fingerprints having lost some of its brand new camera looks. Cuts and bruises will begin to appear on its surface as the year goes on. I don’t mind the imperfections--they make my camera mine instead of a simple factory product. It is my traveling partner, accompanying me on many of my excursions. If it
