Guidance and Discipline 1Different Parenting StylesA perfect example of permissive style of parenting is depicted in Modern Family show. Phil and Claire are showing permissive style of parenting while raising their son Luke. They seem overly friendly and present, but when the issues arise they are not enforcing any consequences, for his disrespect. In the show it is shown that they are not able to set up, conduct and enclose any rules. Most of the time there is no parental guidance and even when there is, it is dropped after a few minutes and never reinforced again. Permissive parenting is lacking parentchild interaction. Permissive parents are extremely friendly with their children; they are not very big on setting up the rules, it is child led learning, children learn on their own and there are no consequences for disrespectful behavior. Children who grew up in those environments are usually very deprived and always looking for attention. They are having difficulties when communicating with their peers, and overall they have difficulties with their social skills. An example of authoritarian style of parenting is Sheldon’s mom from “The Big Bang Theory”. Although Sheldon is a grown up man it is obvious that he grew up in the environment where obedience was emphasized. He is lacking conversational skills, and is very dependent and is having a difficult time to make decisions. Sheldon experiences anxious behavior and it is apparent that he has communication issues as well as insecurity around people he is not comfortable with. Authoritarian parents are most likely to have difficulties to resolve
