The meeting was to help people have more freedom of thought and speech. The people of chine were not able to have freedom of expression of their beliefs or opinions and the Hundred Flowers Campaign helped to allow people the right to speak more freely. Mao was someone who representedthe people during this time but after this time of liberalization and freedom of speech, Mao had taken a change and began to use force and violence against those who were against the communist group.2.The Great Leap Forward was an attempt for Mao Zedong’s attempt to modernize China’s economy that it would allow the country to improve and become on the same level of America. The purpose was to help turn China into an industrial superpower. The outcomeof this even had resulted in a great failure of the campaign and there was major consequences involved. Although the aim for this was to better the Chinese economy through industry and agriculture it caused negative impacts in society. Mao’s use of force and terror caused much persecution among the Chinese people. Mao had used public humiliation, starvation, and forcibly killed and tortured many of them and much of this is what made the event into a disaster.
