Running Head: CHRISTIAN POSITION ON IMMIGRATION 2 According to the American Community Survey, “the United States immigrant population stood at more than 43.3 million, or 13.5 percent of the total United States population,”[Jie17]. Immigration has become one of the disturbing contemporary issues in the American society. Currently, our society has diverse opinions and perceptions concerning this issue. Some American’s are for immigration while others are totally against. The subject broaches many opinions in the ‘pro’ and ‘anti’ immigration camps. Some fear that the immigrants will have a negative economic impact. The enormous number of immigrants results in the heightened competition of the few resources available in the country. Other Americans claim that immigration, legal or not, leads to the loss of jobs in the American business sector, due to the provision of cheap labor in both the low and high skilled areas in a occupation of unregulated workers. The political class in the United States is divided on the treatment of the immigrants. During the 2016 elections, Hillary Clinton said, “I believe that when we have millions of hardworking immigrants contributing to our economy, it would be self-defeating and inhumane to try to kick them out. Comprehensive immigration reform will grow our economy, [Geo16] .” President Trump campaigned, “Decades of record immigration have produced lower wages and
