Introduction – - With all of todays technology, we have made many advances in learning and the many ways people can learn and the things that prevent people from learning as well as others. Thesis/Central Idea/Purpose – - Even with the technological advances our society has made in science and resources, I still feel like we treat learning disabilities as a second class problem. Preview – - 1.) I am going to help you identify what a learning disability is and how it affects all of us - 2.) Then, I am going to let you in on the different misconceptions and misunderstanding that learning disabilities bring to our classrooms. - 3.) Finally, I’m going to let you know some different ways we can both handle and assist learning disabilities for ourselves and others. Transition – - So, as we get started, I’m going to throw you some facts about learning disabilities… Body – - 1.) What exactly is a learning disability? o Our friends at WebMD classify a learning disability to be something that affects the brains ability to receive and processes information
