Our reading this week provided a state-by state definition of the Nurse Practitioner which shed light into my future scope of practice. The State of Florida defines an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) as “any person licensed in this state to practice professional nursing and certified in advanced or specialized nursing practice, including certified registered nurse anesthetists, certified nurse midwives, and nurse practitioners” (Nurse Practice Act, §464.003, 2016). Within the State of Florida,ARNPs are regulated by the Board of Nursing. They must pass a National Certification Exam after completing the requirements to obtain a Masters or a Doctoral degree.
