Lab Report # 2 Introduction: Distillation is a method of separating different compounds based on their boiling point.Keep in mind that a boiling point of a pure liquid is defined as the temperature in which the vapour pressure of a liquid is equal to the pressure applied to the solution. In this lab,we carried out two models of distillation: a simple and a fractional one. Procedure and Results : SIMPLE DISTILLATION Procedure: Using the appropriate apparatus in our locker,we assembled a simple distillation apparatus. We filled a 250mL distillation flask with a 50:50 mixture of 2-propanol and 1-butanol and used a 50mL graduated cylinder as the receiving flask. The distillation flask was heated and we inserted a magnetic stirrer. As soon as the distillationn started,we recorded the temmperature each 2 mL.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
