However, everyone has a different reason for caring, a different motive. Each motive leads to a different solution and each solution has a unique impact on humans. If people see that the wilderness isn’t as large as it used to be, why is one of their first choices to ban humans from the area? People seem to have forgotten that humanity started off in the wilderness and not an apartment complex.Yet, the main point that everyone must see is simple. The planet’s wilderness is dying, and when something you love is dying you do anything you can to help it survive. According to CBS news one-tenth of the Earths wilderness has been lost since the 1990’s leaving a small 23% of the Earth’s surface with wilderness. There is a strong need for restoration, so humans may be able to once again touch and experience the wilderness, not just a fraction of it, but all of it. All those who grew up with nature may rekindle that love they had, while others may touch it for the first time and grow a love for it. The necessity to preserve the planet’s wilderness is needed now morethan ever because wilderness is who we truly are.The wilderness, how is it viewed? There are many different takes on it, is it a place that isuntouched by humans? Perhaps it’s the beautiful campground one visited as a child? Or maybe it’s an inhospitable and threatening place. The list goes on, however, many of us have the view we do due to past experiences, or because we don’t have any experience with the wilderness at

Rather an enhancement of human roots, in a way the wilderness is a form of connecting with creation and life itself. However, the sad truth is this beautiful creation, the vast ecosystem of life known as wilderness is dying and many people don’t care about it enough to do something. The assumption that everyone in the world loves and cares for the wilderness is far from right. Not implying that the earth is full of heartless people, rather pointing out that many people are incapable of loving and caring about something one never grew a connection with. As a child, I never went camping and the closest I got to the wilderness was my local park. My curiosity to explore the wilderness didn’t start until I was in high school. A couple years ago I went to Descanso gardens right when I walked in I was so overwhelmed; I had never seen so
