NURS 6051WEEK 2INTIAL POSTCore Competencies and Scope of Practice in Nursing InformaticsInformatics Nurse Specialist bring the perspectives of nursing, and very often the patients, to interprofessional work through a solid understanding of operational processes and the value of consumer advocacy to informatics functions (ANA, 2015, pp-19).Informatics nurses are uniquelyqualified to assist in the development and optimization of systems that capture, categorize, share, and evaluate data and information while keeping the nursing process as the foundation of practice.The key functional areas that was relevant to the position I held as a charge nurse in a labor and delivery unit included coordination, facilitation, and integration and educational and professional development. As a charge nurse I helped to facilitate management changes, and to integrate the information technology to transform processes. I took the role of a super-user for the system upgrades that happened time-to-time at my facility. I helped in educating nurses the new processes, data entry and troubleshooting during the upgrade process. Being super-user during the upgrade I served as an hub for interprofessional communication and as a bridge and communication between and among informatics solution users, clinical and nonclinical end users and IT experts and staff (ANA, 2015, pp-25).Education is critical component in all aspects of nursing so as nurses we can provide a better and safe nursing care to patients .Teaching
