Parker is also facing a problem with the amount of money being used on R&D. There’s a big percent of earnings that are spent on R&D while only a small portion of the projects reach commercialization phase. The project manager has developed a risk management template based on a similar industry’s methodology.The sponsor is concerned that the risk management templates is not suited for Packer and questioned whether Packer would need to change its project management methodology to use the templates. There is also a concern that the probability distribution used is based on another company’s history and not theirs. The sponsor also did not see the templates to be forward looking and is concerned that the templates can beused without some form of training on the employees.
