2The Payment Time CaseConsulting firms such as the ones mentioned in the Payment Time Case Study (Accenture, Ernst & Young Consulting), use statistical analysis to review the effectiveness of the systems they design for their customers. In this case we are looking at an electronic billing system that was designed for a Stockton, CA trucking company. The system we are reviewing allows invoices to be sent electronically directly to each customer’s computer. This allows the customers to be able to check and correct any errors that may be present. The goal for the billing system is to reduce the time it takes customers to make their payments. The time it is currently taking using the old system has been 39 days or more. This was well in excess of the industry standard of 30 days. There is not a need for the new system to compute the payment time on invoices as there is not a continued need for this information.
