Introduction to Theatre Justin Doran Critique #3 TA: Miranda Herbert December 3, 2007 Production: Arcadia Lyndall Finley Wortham Theatre November 9, 2007 Never Again, Please On November 9, I took the time to watch the UH performance of “Arcadia” at the Wortham Theatre. This well performed production was written by Tom Stoppard and directed by Sidney Berger. Despite the confusion I experienced in the duration of the play I could tell this was well directed play and a lot of effort was put into the performance. From what I could tell, this play was showing the audience the interaction of two time periods through themes such as emotion versus intellect and the mystery of sex. And the director’s intentions were fulfilled through the use of stage design and costume design. For this production, I had to tolerate the unpleasant seats in the far corners of the theatre. It was difficult to see the faces of the actors but it was not far enough that I can’t feel the emotions and mystery of “Arcadia.” The play was more planned out than the last performance I saw.
