As we age we notice our bodies are physically changing, what we may not notice is that our brains are changing as well. Over time it seems as though our intelligence begins to deteriorate. Researchers have had a difficult time explaining the reasoning behind this, and an even harder time defining intelligence. They have, however, decided that there are two types of intelligence; fluid and crystallized. Researchers have also found that overtime one’s fluid intelligence may decrease; meanwhile their crystallized intelligence stays strong. Fluid intelligence reflects information processing capabilities, reasoning, and memory. While crystallized intelligence is the accumulation of information, skills, and strategies that people have learned through life experiences that they may apply to problem solving situations. Both intelligences feed off of each other and need each other in order to work. For example, the ability to solve a crossword puzzle is
