Theresa Adigwu Grand Canyon University HLT- 362V Applied Statistics for Health Care Professionals Exercise 29 10/28/12 1. The groups in this study were independent because an independent variable stands alone and isn’t changed by other variables you are trying to measure. In this case, the groups are independent because they had MI and nothing is going to change the fact that they suffered from MI. 2. T=3.15 describes mental health. This value is significant because p value =0.002 which means there’s a 99.8% chance of this difference occurring. 3. T=1.99 is significant because p value in this research is set as p < 0.05. The meaning of this result is that health functioning is better in men than women 12 months post MI. 4. The t ratio that indicates the largest difference between the males and females post MI is mental health = 3.15. This ratio is significant because it has a p value of 0.002 which means there’s a 99.8% likelihood of this difference being true.
