Truth via Feeling i. visceral, intuitive, instinctive, the answer B. Truth that we are Told i. Who do you believe, Trust? ii. People tell us things- parent, friend, professor iii. survey of professions we trust scale, teenagers trust B. Truth we figure out i. arriving at the truth through reasoning ii. assuming that we are working through the same perspective What day is it, sept 4, assuming we use the same calendar iii. possibility of many truths.  iv. easy when you have formulas- social issues are difficult everyone has different reasoning and can come to different  conclusions.  C. Truth we observe  i. video- Eye Spy, gorilla, and man changing under desk ii. nothing better than eye witness testimony but we know that eye witness testimony is very fallible  ex. Man falsely convicted – picking cotton book color changing card trick- ebaums world

iii. observers are not infallible biases, emotional state, inattention blindness iv. observational conditions affect observations viewing angle, lighting, distance, etc.  what they expected to see, what they wanted to see. Method of Measurement  different conclusions using diff methods of measurement V. Human Memory  A. not all events or parts of events are stored in the brian B. Memory can be influenced by information input from others Memories sometimes combine parts or two separate events We sometimes fill in the gaps with what seem to make sense.  II. Determining the truth of something, Consider: A. We don’t perceive things exactly like anyone else B. Testimonies exist as we perceive them
