Microsoft Analysis2Analyzing Microsoft Corporation’s Financial StatementsMicrosoft Corporation is a large technology company with its headquarters located in Redmond,Washington.The current CEO is Satya Nadella.Microsoft is a leader in the software and technologyindustry that offers several products and services.Some of the major software products they offerinclude Windows 10, the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Access, etc.), and Skype.They alsooffer technology products such as the Windows Mobile Phone, Surface Tablet, and the X-Box Oneconsole gaming platform.With many of these products, Microsoft also offers access to their cloudcomputing services for maintaining and storing data.In addition, Microsoft offers support services for allof their products.With such a diverse offering of products and services, Microsoft has many competitors.Onesuch competitor is the Apple Corporation, which offers many of the same comparable products andservices including the IPhone, IPad, and Mac Book as well as support services for these products.Othercompetitors include Samsung, with their Android phones and operating system, Sony, with theirPlayStation 4 console gaming platform, and Google, with many of its online support services.The initial analysis of Microsoft’s income statement and balance sheet will be conducted using ahorizontal analysis, which is a common-size financial statement that allows us “to compare data fromwithin two or more periods, side-by-side” to isolate trends that may need additional scrutiny(Wainwright, 2012).Years ending 2013, 2014, and 2015 will be reviewed and compared to each other.
