Computer Science and Engineering 331 Computer Organization and Design Spring 200 8 Homework #8: Test Memory Mapped I/O of SPIM Pair programming assignment 1. (6 points) Study and understand the assembly file tt.io.s and then run it on SPIM (version 7.0 and up). As you can see, this file contains both a main program to test the memory mapped I/O of SPIM and an interrupt (trap) handler. At the beginning, the prompt asks the user to input six lines. The main program uses polling to echo the first three lines to SPIM’s console (the ‘terminal’ of virtual machine SPIM) and then enables interrupts and let the interrupt handler to echo the next three lines. Determine how many times the interrupt (trap) handler is invoked if the six input lines are: computer organization design cse 331 SPIM What is the relationship between this number and the number of the characters in the last three lines, i.e., 10 (>, < or =)? Why? (You might want to add your own code to tt.io.s to keep count.)
