Question 1:What is learned helplessness? To earn the point, you must explain your answerthoroughly. (1 pt.) TYPE YOUR ANSWER HERE. Base your answers on textbook and video information. Do not answer using your personal opinions. Learned helplessness is when people get a sense of hopelessness which they learn from having no control over bad events that continually occur. When people and animals experience uncontrollable bad events, feel as if they have no control it leads to learned helplessness. (pg.47)Question 2: What behaviors suggest that Helene has developed learned helplessness? To earn the point, you must explain your answer thoroughly. (1 pt.) TYPE YOUR ANSWER HERE. Base your answers on textbook and video information. Do not answer using your personal opinions. Helene has accepted being beaten. She stays in the relationship even though she is in danger and fear. Helene has become passive and she believes her efforts have no effect. (pg.47) She believes that no matter what she does the outcome is the same andshe has learned to accept it, she talks about going over “set rules” in her mind, thinking that if she follows certain rules she will be safe, however, she still lives in fear that she will someday be shot.
