05:19 September 16, 2008 Federal  Means there are two governments state and federal  Branches of Government : Legislative Branch     - power to create law Executive Branch     - power to enforce law Judicial Branch     - power to interpret law Created for separation of powers. In order for not one group of government to  have excessive power Eminent Domain     Right of government to take your property, but they have to compensate you for it Many people original opposed the Constitution because it gave no individual  rights only gave rights to the government They then created the  Bill of Rights The first ten amendments which are made to limit the power of the government  via individual rights.   First amendment —Congress shall make no laws…  Right off the bat they begin to limit the government Freedom of Religion : Many believe this means worship the way you want and separation of church and  state You do not complete have this right Freedom of Speech Freedom of Press Second Amendment —The right to keep and bear arms Not an absolute right You have a right to keep guns inside your house Not completely clear: what kind of weapons, where all can you take them
