Key   Terms  Motivation Drive Theory : idea is that you have drive and homeostasis(balance)   incentives , rewards for taking action   homeostasis ; we have a level of balance we need to keep conflict:   approach/approach : two things you would like to do and you have to choose avoid/avoid :  two things you don’t want to do, you have to choose approach/avoidance :  thing you want to do has both qualities, we make cost/benefit analysis Arousal Theory  (Yerkes-Dodson Law – 1908). Means performance increases as arousal level increases, until a point After certain point, stress becomes  distress Type A: has high anxiety level and tends to prepare - anxiety and performance Cognitive Theories : means thinking, expectancy - need to achieve (TAT), gave people a picture, what do you see? -
