QUALITATIVE RESEARCHUnderstanding the Value of Qualitative ResearchXXXXX XXXXXXXSOC 333: Research MethodsRisa GarelickJune 12, 2017
QUALITATIVE RESEARCHFor most people, research can be something as simply finding the correct answer to a solution but it can go into way more depth than that. Most people believe that scientific research either contains a bunch of equations on a chalk board or a bunch of scientists conducting lab experiments but for people who have actual insight in the matter, conducting research can be far more complex then what most people think. There are much more ways to research then what thecommon person may not know exist and so the rationalism of these researching methods can prove to be very important around the globe. For generations, researchers have been using the qualitative research method. The importance of qualitative research method is great. “Qualitative research focuses on the way people interpret and make sense of their experiences and the world in which they live and lies in the interpretive approach to social reality” (Holloway, 1997). Quantitative research is just purely based off of numbers and statics whereas qualitative research can be more based around anthropology or psychology. When we’re talking about qualitative research, the concerns in the research should be more focused around the study of understanding of relationships and their motivation to do so, and how the two correlate certain behaviors.
