Analysis of a Poem: “Piano” by D.H Lawrence “Piano” by D.H Lawrence is short poem about his experiences as a child and how emotional and important childhood is. The poem reflects the thoughts and feelings of a single speaker as he listens at dusk to a woman singing a song that brings back childhood memories of sitting at his mother’s feet while she played the piano. “Piano” shows nostalgia without in depth information, but still captures the power of Lawrence’s experiences as a child. It also provides adequate reason for the intense feeling and why he feels this way. D.H Lawrence uses onomatopoeia, imagery, and metaphors in “Piano” to illustrate himself experiencing nostalgia as he listens to a lady singing along with a tune from a piano.
