Experiment no. 2Discussion:In this experiment our objective is to study the characteristics of diac and triac to demonstrate theoperation of diac-triac phase control circuit. Using the lamp dimmer circuit as an application ofdiac-triac, we operate and test the lamp dimmer circuit and study its waveform throughoscilloscope.On the first part of the experiment, we study the operation of a basic diac-triac phase control.Figure 1 shows the construction of the basic diac-triac circuit with the 35V AC source. Theintensity of the light is controlled by varying the 100kohm potentiometer in series with thecapacitor. We can be seen in said figure that the 22kohm is in series first with the bulb to avoidzero resistance. Because zero resistance can lead to infinite current. The greatest intensity of thelight can be seen if we set the potentiometer to its minimum value resistance. Next we slowlyincrease the resistance of the potentiometer until the light turns off.
