Unit 6 Discussion 1 – It is quite difficult to say what level of ethical responsibility an engineer should have without having any actual engineering experience and understanding the works that go into producing goods or creating systems in which to produce goods. The reason why I saw this is difficult is because the elements of economic sustainability and social sustainability for both consumers and producers. With that said, I would have to say I would choose the good works practice with a long term goal of moving towards a reasonable care practice. I think the age of engineers working as minimalists has passed. There is too much mounting evidence that suggests this model of practice is dangerous to the long term health of the planet and its habitants. I do wish we could immediately move to a reasonable care practice, but that could have major economic and social consequences that could hurt sustainability and in turn not allow us to reach our goal of always working with reasonable care. The best way to move forwards, in my opinion, is to tweak what
