Charae Duong Professor Robin Beltran Psychology 101 June 30, 2017 Effects of Traumatic Brain Injury Many studies have been conducted on traumatic brain injury (TBI) and its affects on victims. When the brain is injured, the effects can range from mild to severe. Let’s take a scenario where a 45-year-old man, Mark, is injured in a major car accident. Luckily, the accident is not fatal; he survives but experiences major TBI. When he is rushed to the hospital, it is found out that be has major impact to his frontal lobes, and his left temporal lobe. Because his brain took such a great impact, he is left in the hospital in a coma. A human can have lifelong deficits when they experience neurobiological damage to their brain. Since Mark experienced traumatic impact to several parts of his brain, lets first talk about the effects of injury to the frontal lobes. In our reading, Psychology in action, we learn that the frontal lobes receive and coordinate messages from other lobes; motor control, speech production, and higher functions.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
