In nowadays great amount of High-tech and IT, as well as software companies developing new systems to improve care giving. However, the burden of finding the perfect fit for the company is still seeking the solutions. Healthcare is unique industry, where person’s life is on the line every day. This report will introduce the most vital skills of management in implementation EHR to the workflow of any care giving organization. Healthcare is by far one of the most personal services that could be provided to a human. With that said, it is necessary to realize that to give this kind of care, the patient must feel free to speak and not worry about confidentiality. This is the type of accommodation medical providers must create with their patient. There are a lot of educational programs that could be assembled to provide proper understanding and function of confidentiality, privacy, and security of the patient’s information in the healthcare facility. Some of them will be discussed here. First, train the staff on HIPPA and TJC regulations. (Prater, 2014). For new employees, this should be done immediately, in the first day of appearance for job training. Introduce all the medical staff to the rules and regulations of the facility. Some people tend to learn quicker by listening or visualization, the others prefer reading. (Prater, 2014). Implement both methods by using presentations and creating written manuals. Provide real life examples of outcomes when pretermitting the confidentiality or security. Providing the insight of the problem could illuminate the incomprehensible parts of it. Next, a good educational approach would be annually or quarterly congregation of employees for summarizing the updated regulations. (Prater, 2014). Rules and regulations are dynamically moving with this progress, which is a part of an inevitable evolution. (AHIMA, 2017). Thus, now patients are allowed to access their medical records and add on necessary information, it was impossible just a few years ago.
Managing EHR in Healthcare 3 (ACHE, 2016).Therefore, it is essential to have educational meetings, where all the new information is covered about privacy, security and confidentiality. Plus, updated manuals must be emailed or handled accordingly. Another effective method of education would include monitoring of the staff and correcting errors. (Snell, 2017). Not logging out, leaving EMR unattended, not confirming patients’ names, revealing private information in front of other patients, using media to discuss work, etc. should be discussed in an individual manner. Those workers should complete extra training and testing afterword. Nonetheless, medical professionals must know policies on access and disclosure of Patient Health Information (PHI) in order to comply with privacy, confidentiality and security correspondingly.
