Marketing 348 Articles #5 – Marketing Myopia This article first covers the “marketing myopia” sections and then gives a  commentary on the effects of the article on the business world and the  author’s viewpoint on the whole idea.  The marketing myopia article  approaches the idea of marketing departments being too far-sighted and  lacking the ability to see beyond their immediate needs.  It encourages  businesses to redefine their market in terms of wider perspectives.  It’s  supposed to get managers to think outside the box and predict the  unpredictable.  The commentary from Levvitt gave insight into how the article  effected the business world.  On an upside corporations began to look at the  world around them and market their products accordingly, but some took it to  the extreme and over-marketed so to speak; they would react too soon and
