1. Describe how the processes of transportation, deposition, and lithification influence the character of sediments. Include specific rock examples to illustrate your points. Sedimentary rocks start from the weathering of existing rocks. The particles are often in the shape of gravel, sand, silt and mud. Limestone is the perfect example of how lithification of the remains of a living organism with sediment create this sedimentary rock. Limestone is a sedimentary rock that comes from the depth of the sea. We can imagine that there is a sea shell at the bottom of the ocean. There is a transportation by the ocean current, the travelling of particles from a different site to a new site, of the particles to the deposited. The deposite is where the shell is located. Lithification, compression or impact to create a solid rock, will take place and mold the particles around the shell and form what we call limestone Fossiliferous, known as a Chemical Sedimentary. coquina is another Chemical sedimentary rock like limestone Fossiliferous. Coquina is form very similar expect

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
