Policing and Profiling -Jackie Campbell: Walking the Beat Alone: An African American Police Officer’s Perspective on Petit Apartheid. - Campbell says profiling occurs because of the nature of a neighborhood and the nature of its crimes. (District to District, hands up, searches) -Airport profiling occurs because of a direct stereotype of a type of individual that looks suspicious. 3. Why do people obey the law? -According to Tyler, people obey the law because of social relations, normative values, legitimacy of institutions and acting against self-interest
