Acts Luke begins with an emphasis on baptism in the Spirit, 1. “For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.” (1:5) 2. “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (1:8) 3. Holy Spirit comes at Pentacost (2:1-4…) a. Rushing wind, tongues of fire, filling with the Holy Spirit, Spirit’s enablement to speak in tongues (for God-fearing Jews from “every nation”) 4. Peter stands up to preach: (2:14-41) a. These men aren’t drunk, its 9am b. This is the prophecy spoken by Joel (2:28-32)
