Go Back N 1. Can send multiple segments without receiving acknowledgment. 2. Cumulative ACK –  if an ack is received for a segment, then all segments before  it have been received and ACKed also. 3. Timeout –  if a timeout occurs then sender will resend all unacknowledged sent  segments in the window. Selective Repeat  1. Each packet is acknowledge when it is received 2. Each packet has its own timer. 3. Window size must be <= sequence number space 4. Packets are buffered if out of order, and sent up to layer above when in order  5. ACKs previously received packets with same ACK, since the new packet could  just be a reused ACK Estimating Round Trip Time and Timeout 1. SampleRTT –  measured once every RTT, for a segment. 2. EstimatedRTT –  is an exponential moving average of the SampleRTTs over a  given time interval. a. (1-a) * EstimatedRTT + a * SampleRTT = new EstimatedRTT
