ORGANIZATIONAL SYSTEMS & QUALITY LEADERSHIP 2 Nurses have a mandate to be committed to their purpose at work to ensure that they provide quality healthcare services to the patients. Nurses should incorporate the core measures in their daily practices and communication to ensure patient satisfaction and departmental growth. Nurses have an obligation in the interdisciplinary team of; practicing good communication skills both written and verbal, practicing mutual respect among disciplines and having desire to work as a team to ensure effective communication and achieving of a common goal (Huber, 2013). In healthcare organizations, the processes, structure and outcomes of nursing care reflects the nursing-sensitive indicators. Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) should be educated on the indicators of nursing-sensitive to assist them in providing quality healthcare, understanding the operations of nursing and patient satisfaction with different cases for example pressure ulcers, patient falls, hours of provision of care per day and the overall care satisfaction of the medical information being provided to the patients (Mitchell, 2012). Burston, Chaboyer and Gillespie (2014), if in this case the nurses and CNA had knowledge on indicators of nursing-sensitive, it could have acted as an aid in identifying the issues for example the mix up order of patient’s meal. Following the appropriate methods of patient assessment and the interventions of nurses to ensure that the right meal for the patient is provided could prevent health problems that might arise as a result of the mix up.
