Brandon Yanari Asian American Studies R2B Anna Leong and Janey Lew 24 January 2008 Short Response: Zinsser On Writing Well Questions: It seems like Zinsser gives us a lot to remember. How do we start using all of this advice? What is most important? What should we do first? How long does it take to change if you are not so good a writer? Is there such a thing as writing too simply? Being yourself is writing like your talking right? So what is more important, being yourself or clutter? Overall theme: Writing is different for everyone. The best way to write is to write simply, be yourself, eliminate clutter, and have your own personal style. It is also good to have unity within the paper, centralized around one main idea. Passage: “Trying to add style is like adding a toupee. At first glance the formerly bald man looks young and even handsome. But at second glance-and with a toupee there is always a second glance-he doesn’t look quite right. The problem is not that he doesn’t look well
