Essay twoAs the middle ages came to a close in Europe, so did the power of the Catholic churchover music. As the middle class grew, wealth and music started to expand outside of the greystone walled churches to concert halls and local meeting places. With the evolution of music inthe renaissance, it would set up a new but familiar musical age called the Baroque period whichlasted from 1600 to 1750. This new period of music would expand on the ideas of therenaissance by making grand and over the top type of music for all the listen too. This new typeof music that was being created in the Baroque period would be available to all and would be theperfect stepping stone in creating the classical musical period, 1750 to 1820.The Baroque period was a period of music that was defined by its overly ornamented,overly done musical pieces. The overly done musical pieces is how this period got its namebecause Baroque is Portuguese for misshapen pearl. Historians, when looking back at musicfrom this period, thought that while these musical pieces are in fact beautiful, they are not perfectby any means.The famous composer Bach was writing musical works during this period.
